Tractrix Curve module

The Tractrix Curve module is the ideal tool for the detailed planning of
traffic paths.
The professional tool for calculating tractrix curves easily enables ambitious architects or road planners to check the navigability of traffic routes interactively using the 15 stored standard reference vehicles according to the regulations of the FGSV (German Road and Transportation Research Association). Multiple changes of direction are also supported, such as those in the entry and exit areas of car parks or roundabouts.

Vehicle geometry

The stored geometric parameters of the reference vehicles relate to the highest permissible values according to the German Road Traffic Registration Regulation (StVZO). The vehicle geometries can be changed depending on the user and can be reset to the original values if required. Customer-specific vehicles can also be saved and used again.

The usage options of the dynamic tractrix curve calculation go far beyond proving the navigability of public roads. For example, when preparing planning you can check the space requirement of lorries in a logistics centre, or the optimal use of the parking space available under the "perpendicular parking" or "angle parking" schemes for cars, lorries or buses. Set dimensions of turning bays in development areas for the exact refuse collection vehicle which will also use the space to turn in future, or simply establish that car parks, narrow junctions or private access roads can be navigated without any problems. You can also analyse cases of oncoming traffic with or without using the opposite lane.

Verification

You can verify the result of the reference vehicle's simulated journey directly on the screen in the ELITECAD drawing by following the driving behaviour of your selected vehicle as an animation along the driving line. You can choose to display the results as a vehicle sequence (corresponding to the preset calculation increments), as contour lines (gradient of the wheels or vehicle corners) or as required floor space (surface driven on or covered) by individually assigning pens and line types in the drawing. All relevant calculation parameters are stored together with the drawing so that you can reproduce previous calculations at a later date.
